Peak2002 is a Swiss alpine-ski project. This page explains what personal data we collect on peak2002.com, why we use it, who we share it with, and the rights you have under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, where it applies, the EU/UK GDPR.
This website is information, a waitlist, and a way to write to us. We do not run an online shop yet, so we do not process payment details, shipping addresses, or customer accounts.
1. Who is responsible
The controller of personal data processed through this website is Peak2002, based in Switzerland.
- Email: info@peak2002.com
- Phone: +41 77 231 68 14
Write to that address for any privacy request. We will publish the registered company name, street address, and Swiss UID here as soon as they are confirmed.
2. What we collect
When you visit the site
Our hosting environment may record technical data needed to serve the page and keep it stable: IP address, date and time, requested URL, referrer, browser and device type, and a success or error code. We use this to operate the site, diagnose faults, and protect it against abuse. We do not use it to build a profile of you.
Fonts, layout CSS, and animation scripts are hosted on peak2002.com. We do not load Google Fonts, Google Analytics, or Tag Manager on these pages. See the cookie policy.
When you join the waitlist
The waitlist form asks for a first name, a last name, an email address, and optionally which ski you are most interested in (piste, all-mountain, freeride, touring, or undecided). We also store a short note of the page you signed up from. A hidden field is used only to block automated spam; we do not use it as personal data. We do not store your IP address in the waitlist file. The server may keep a short hashed record of recent submissions to block spam.
Joining the waitlist adds you to our Mailchimp audience straight away. We use it to send development and launch updates, and to understand which models people are waiting for. Signing up is optional and based on your consent. You can unsubscribe at any time.
When you send a message
The contact form asks for a name, an email address, a topic, and your message. We email that to ourselves so we can reply, and we may keep a copy in a file on our Swiss host. This is not a waitlist sign-up: we will not add you to Mailchimp unless you join the waitlist separately. Do not send payment-card numbers or other sensitive data through the form.
When you write to us
If you email info@peak2002.com or call, we keep the content of that conversation as needed to answer you. Do not send us payment-card numbers or other sensitive data by email.
What we do not collect today
We do not ask for a customer account, date of birth, payment data, billing or delivery address, or precise location. We do not sell personal data. We do not buy marketing lists.
3. Why we process data, and on what basis
- Waitlist and email updates — your consent. You can unsubscribe from any message or email us to be removed.
- Answering messages and running the site — our legitimate interest in communicating with people who contact us (including through the contact form) and in keeping the website secure and available. Under Swiss law this is processing that is suitable and necessary for those purposes.
- Legal duties — if we must keep records for tax, accounting, or to respond to a lawful request.
If we later open pre-order or sales, we will update this policy before we collect anything extra, and we will tell waitlist members.
4. Who we share data with
We only pass data to people who need it to run Peak2002 or a service we have asked them to provide:
- Hosting — the site and waitlist file are hosted with Infomaniak Network SA in Switzerland.
- Email — new waitlist sign-ups are also sent to info@peak2002.com so we can see them.
- Mailchimp — The Rocket Science Group LLC (Intuit), United States, holds the waitlist audience so we can send updates and so you can unsubscribe yourself. Mailchimp acts as our processor for that list.
- Professional advisers — only if needed (for example an accountant), under confidentiality.
We do not share waitlist data with other ski brands or advertisers.
5. Transfers outside Switzerland
Mailchimp stores and processes waitlist data in the United States. Where the GDPR applies, we rely on Mailchimp’s standard contractual clauses and any other transfer tool they publish. You can ask us for more detail on those safeguards.
6. How long we keep it
- Waitlist records: until you unsubscribe, we close the waitlist, or you ask us to delete them — and then only as long as we still need a record of that request.
- Contact-form messages: for as long as the conversation is relevant, then according to ordinary business retention.
- Spam-control hashes of recent form submissions: about 10 minutes.
- Emails you send us: for as long as the conversation is relevant, then according to ordinary business retention.
- Server logs: typically a short technical period set by the host, unless we must keep an incident record longer.
7. Cookies and similar tools
The current Peak2002 pages do not set advertising cookies and do not load Google Analytics. Full detail is in the cookie policy.
Mailchimp may record whether a campaign email was opened or a link was clicked, so we can see if our updates are useful. You can usually block that in your mail app by turning off remote images, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
8. Security
We limit access to waitlist data and keep it on systems we control plus Mailchimp. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure. Email in particular is not encrypted end-to-end unless we agree another channel. If you prefer, write or telephone instead.
9. Your rights
Subject to the conditions in the FADP (and GDPR where it applies), you can ask us to:
- confirm whether we hold data about you, and receive a copy
- correct inaccurate data
- delete data we no longer need
- restrict or object to certain processing
- withdraw consent for the waitlist, without affecting earlier lawful use
- receive waitlist data you gave us in a common format, or ask us to send it to another controller where that is technically reasonable
Email info@peak2002.com. We may need to verify that the request comes from you. We will answer within the time the law allows.
You can lodge a complaint with the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC). If the GDPR applies to you, you may also contact your local supervisory authority.
10. Children
This site is aimed at adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you believe we have, please tell us and we will delete it.
11. Changes
We will update this page when our practices change — for example if we open a shop, add analytics, or appoint a different processor. The date at the top is the latest version. Material changes that affect the waitlist will also be mentioned in an email where we still have a valid address.
